ESN Pro: Adding and Managing Keywords

Overview

As an Euna Solutions® Euna Supplier Network (ESN) Pro subscriber, you have two ways to manage the keywords and commodity codes on your profile. You can add and refine keywords manually to control which opportunities are recommended to you, and you can use AI to automatically generate targeted keywords and commodity codes based on your business description. Both approaches feed into the same recommendation engine - improving bid matches and making your profile easier for agencies to find through Vendor Search.

Accessing Recommendation Settings

Start by logging in to Euna Supplier Network at vendor.bonfirehub.com

From there, navigate to Account Settings > Recommendation Settings to access your keywords and commodity codes.

Managing Keywords

Keywords are matched against the title and description of opportunities posted to ESN. Adding or removing keywords updates your recommended opportunities automatically.

Adding Keywords

To add a keyword, enter it in the keyword text box and click Add Keyword. Keywords save automatically - no further action is needed after clicking the button.

To add multiple keywords at once, separate each keyword with a comma in the text box.

Note

Wildcard and exact matches are both supported. Wrapping a keyword in single quotes (for example, 'project management') returns exact matches only. Without quotes, the search uses wildcard matching.

Excluded Keywords

Adding an excluded keyword removes any recommendations that contain that term in the title or description - including recommendations generated by commodity codes. This gives you a way to filter out irrelevant opportunities without adjusting your commodity codes directly.

To remove a keyword or excluded keyword, click the x to the right of it.

Using AI to Generate Keywords and Commodity Codes

Rather than manually searching through classification code lists, you can use AI to analyse your business profile and suggest relevant keywords and commodity codes. The Improve your recommendation using AI button appears in three locations within your ESN account:

  • Account Settings > Recommendation Settings - the primary location for managing keywords and commodity codes
  • Dashboard - quick access next to your recommendation settings summary
  • All Opportunities - optimise your profile while browsing opportunities

How to Use the Feature

To generate AI-powered keywords and commodity codes:

  1. Navigate to Recommendation Settings, your Dashboard, or the All Opportunities page, and click Improve your recommendation using AI.
  2. Review the business description shown. This is pulled from your vendor registration profile. Edit it if you want to refine or expand the description for better results.
  3. Click Generate keywords and commodity codes.
  4. Review the suggestions. Remove any that do not fit your business, then click Save to add them to your profile.

Important

Editing your business description within this tool does not update your public vendor profile - the description is only used to generate recommendations. You can experiment freely without affecting how agencies see your business.

What the AI Generates

The AI produces 10–15 keywords tailored to your business, plus commodity codes from three major classification systems:

  • UNSPSC - United Nations Standard Products and Services Code
  • NIGP - National Institute of Governmental Purchasing
  • NAICS - North American Industry Classification System

The AI adds to your existing keywords and commodity codes - it does not replace them. After generating, your original selections remain in place, and you can edit, remove, or add more manually at any time.

Note

Changes to your keywords and commodity codes take effect the following day. You will start seeing updated bid recommendations within 24 hours.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use a detailed business description - the more specific, the more accurate the AI suggestions.
  • Include industry-specific terms and specializations relevant to your work.
  • If your business covers multiple service areas, try running the AI tool multiple times with descriptions focused on each area.
  • Use excluded keywords to filter out irrelevant industries or opportunity types that regularly appear in your recommendations.

Tip

You can run the AI generation as many times as you want. Adjust your description and regenerate to explore different results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a keyword and an excluded keyword?

A keyword tells the recommendation engine which opportunity types to include in your results - terms matching the title or description of an opportunity will surface it in your recommendations. An excluded keyword does the opposite: any opportunity containing that term (in the title, description, or via commodity codes) will be removed from your recommendations.

How do wildcard and exact match keywords work?

By default, keywords use wildcard matching, which means partial matches count. Wrapping a keyword in single quotes forces an exact match - only opportunities containing that precise term will be included.

Will using the AI tool replace my existing keywords and commodity codes?

No - the AI adds to your existing selections rather than replacing them. Your current keywords and codes remain in place after generating.

How many keywords will the AI generate?

The AI generates 10-15 keywords based on your business description. The number is intentionally limited to keep suggestions relevant and high quality.

What commodity code systems does the AI support?

The AI recommends codes from three systems: UNSPSC, NIGP, and NAICS.

Will editing my business description in the AI tool update my vendor profile?

No - edits made within the AI tool are only used to generate recommendations. Your public vendor profile (visible to agencies) remains unchanged.

My business offers multiple service lines. Will the AI still work?

Yes - the AI handles diverse businesses well. For more targeted results, try running the tool separately with descriptions focused on each line of service.

How long until updated keywords and commodity codes affect my recommendations?

Changes take effect the following day - you will see updated recommendations within 24 hours, whether you added them manually or through the AI tool.
