Understanding This Error Message
Registering for a Euna Procurement account or resetting your password can trigger the following message: "You cannot use this password."
Euna Procurement continuously updates its security practices, including systems that assess password strength. This message typically means the password you are trying to use follows a pattern common to weaker passwords, or that it has appeared in a database of previously compromised passwords.
Strengthening Your Password
Follow these best practices to create a stronger password and avoid this error:
- Use a minimum of 10 characters.
- Combine uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Avoid reusing a password across multiple accounts. Create a new password for Euna Procurement if you have used your current password on another application or website.
- Avoid repeating characters or sequences, such as AAAAA, 12345, qwerty, or 1234512345.
- Avoid keyboard patterns, such as qwertyuiop.
- Avoid replacing letters with similar-looking numbers, such as a1rplan3 or aer0plan3.
- Avoid popular words from television shows, movies, or other media, and avoid common patterns such as dates.
- Use a password manager to generate and store secure, complex passwords.
Checking for a Compromised Password
If you are still unable to set your desired password, confirm that it has not been compromised. Euna Procurement automatically rejects any password known to have been compromised. Check your password against publicly known compromised passwords at Have I Been Pwned.
Note
Checking your password does not grant Euna Procurement access to it, and the check does not send your password to any external system for validation. No member of the Euna Procurement team can view your password. The tools and processes used during this check assess password strength only.
